Direct Care - Part Time
Father Bills & MainSpring has openings for part time Direct Care positions at Father Bill's Place in Quincy and MainSpring House in Brockton. We are seeking mature and responsible individuals to work closely with shelter guests, assisting with intakes and search of guests and their property.
The Direct Care positions are critical to the daily operations of our emergency shelters. For homeless individuals as well as donors and volunteers, Direct Care is the first person they will meet at our shelters.
Interested candidates should be responsible, flexible, and have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, and a genuine concern for the homeless.
CPR certification is a plus but not required. Training is available for interested applicants.
A valid driver's license is required.

Direct Care Team Leader
Father Bills & MainSpring currently has an opening for Weekend Direct Care Team Leader on the 4pm-12am shift at Father Bill’s Place in Quincy.
The duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with the intakes of guests;
- Assist with transportation of guests;
- Supervise meal times and give assistance where needed;
- Enforce and follow the policies, procedures and guidelines of the shelter;
- Spend time with guests, being attentive to problems or concerns;
- Alert case managers and other staff if there are any problems;
- Be aware that events may lead to necessary crisis intervention and report situation to your supervisor immediately;
- Keep all required documentation of activities in our log book;
- May be needed to assist with other minor shelter maintenance;
- May be needed to supervise guests outside on shelter grounds;
- Be available to do in-house training when offered.
This position is accountable for quality of services, facilitating the intake, assessing effectiveness of all employees and placing them in shelter appropriately. Project the shift activities to the next shift, passing on essential information. Team Leader will educate staff members of shelter policies, procedures, and principles of Father Bills & MainSpring. Interprets personnel policies and acts as a resource to staff. Directs and coordinates on-going orientation for staff. Accurately maintains all necessary documentation in accordance with shelter policy. Has the ability to realize crisis situations and acts responsibly and swiftly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Two years of direct care experience preferred.
